Ep 78 Develop your Time Management Skills

When you are doing so much there’s hardly time to stop, it’s a good idea to refine your time management skills. When is saying NO a good idea? And what do you say YES to?

Ruth Amos, Time Management. Say YES. Say NO

Perhaps the moment you really grow up is when you realize you can’t do everything. Which means for a lot of us, it takes a long time to grow up!

So, when you finally realize there must another way to do life, how do you set yourself up for success-without-exhaustion?

The answer is to manage your time better. Author, and mother-of-two young adults, Ruth Amos reflected and experimented with the “time management” concept. Now she is so much more organized, and can sit and relax with cups of coffee (pictured) in ways she never thought possible.

What’s more, you can do it too.

Show Notes – Time Management

The world around us seems to put busyness on a high pedestal. But it’s important to simplify life by saying NO to things.

  • Resource: As mentioned in the interview, Ruth’s book A Year of Saying No, with resources, is available from her website here >>>

But what do you say YES to? One day, Ruth wrote a mind map to work out some very useful boundaries.

  • There’s some ‘The Best Yes’ is the Lysa TerKeurst* book Ruth mentioned (and couldn’t remember the name of!)

It’s good to schedule time for yourself, especially for your own personal creativity. Even 15 minutes a day of personal creativity is really worthwhile. This is good for you, and also sets a great example for your children.

Ruth’s Time Management Tips

  1. Look at how you spend your time, and keep track of it, to see how you are using it. You might be surprised at what you discover.
  2. Create To Do lists, to get everything out of the top of your head.
  3. Take time out for yourself, to live your life.
